As far as comparing these to subs together, MTX is the better sub. Only because they are not know to have mechanical issues as Kicker subs are known for. Now compair any sub made by MTX to my sub (Orion HCCA 12.2) there is no comparison, mine will blow both companies away without trying. Look up the HCCA challenge.

Orion makes a competition sub, hes prolly talking about a street stereo. and to say whcih sounds better, depends whos listening. i like my bass deep and loud as a mofo. i go for SPL, i own two Compvx 15s in the back of my 98 sunflower. i have owned MTX in the past, and i dont rly care for them. after i bought my first pair of 12" CVRs i was sold on kickers. i probably wont go to anything else for a long long time or until my budget can allow me to get FIs or some REs.

MTX if we're talking sound quality.

They didn't do bad in the HCCA challenge. Both the MTX 9500 and the Kicker Solo X survived the full hour of 3000W peak. Both failed when pushed to 3500W. Still, for the MTX – that's damn good for a sub rated at 1000W RMS.

MTX for sound quality by FARRR. i own two 8500s and i LOVE the sound quality. My dad has an L7 and it's really loud, but not very good sound quality
