  1. Why 1 ohm?

How you load an amp determines the amount of power out.

There is a trade off though, the lower the impedance (ohms) the more power is pushed as well as higher distortion and more heat is generated. The excessive heat will shorten the life of the amp.

For best overall performance, it’s far better to get a higher powered amp and load it with 4 ohms than a lower powered amp and force it to push more power with a lower impedance (2 or less ohms) load.

  3. You can’t find 1ohm Kickers. You can, however, wire 2 dual 2ohm Kickers in parallel- series to get a 2ohm load to the amp.

Get an amp that puts out near the total speakers’ rms power rating in that impedance.

I.E., For 2 dual 2ohm 500watt rms subs wired in paralled -series to 2ohms at the amp, you would need an amp that puts out about 1000watts rms x 1 @ 2ohms.

Make sure it’s CEA-compliant. This ensures that it puts out what it claims.

    Have Fun!
