Do Kicker Refurbished Subwoofers need to be Re-Broken In?
I bought a refurb’d L7 12 and was wondering if it needed to be rebroken in.
I was reading on kicker’s website that they pretty much replace the sub so that it meets quality standards, so I’m guessing yes?
Are you sure? Alot of people have said that they did not break in their L7′s and they blew, when they got replacements they did break them in, and they lasted.

The funny thing is Kicker is the ONLY manufacturer that does this.
“breaking in subs” is a myth.
Here’s WHY.
The cone moves freely (vertically), the coils are wound to a tube and attached to the cone, the surround is plenty flexible, the frame and spider mesh will flex no matter what. There is nothing else about the speaker that requires to be broken in.
I will say the T/S parameters do change over time (slightly) due to use, so re-tuning some settings may be required.
I work for a commercial audio company that installs very large speaker systems in arenas, venues and sound stages and we don’t “break in” anything.
