I currently have an amplifier but it's not a brand name, I don't know what it is but it's really cheap and it keeps shutting off. I like the kinda bass where I can still hear my music loud but I still wanna be able to feel the bass. Sometimes it seems like it's not there. I'm thinking of this Rockford Fosgate 300 watt. Any ideas? Is that enough watts? I don't know much on systems. And I drive a 99' Honda Civic LX if that makes any difference on what my car can handle.

i have a hunch your amp is overheating or the wiring is bad. what your gonna be looking for is RMS…300w RMS will be good to hear and feel some bass in the car, but make sure what your subs is not drawing too much power from your amp (10" CompVR's draw ~400w RMS @ 4 ohms each, so youd better have an amp that can handle the total wattage).

in terms of what kind of amplifier to get, get a class D. wattage-wise, get one that can handle the total wattage at given impedence. for example, if you have 2 of the CompVR's that put out 400w RMS @ 4 ohm DVC, then consider this: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer… you can either get an amp that can power 800w RMS @ 1 ohm, or power 800w RMS @ 4 ohm, provided you follow their wiring diagram.
