If your amp has a low pass crossover set it to 80 or 100 hertz. Turn the gain/sensitivity and bass boost on amp all the way down. If you can, fade all other speakers out with head unit. Play a song with lots of bass or use a disc with test tones, if you use a test tone use 50 to 55 hertz. Turn the volume on your head unit up until the sound is distorted, then back it off until there is no distortion. Next turn the gain up until sound is distorted then back it off. Lastly turn the bass boost up until distorted, then back it off. Everybody has there own listening preference, but the main thing is to have no distortion, or subs that sound like they are going to blow up.
